      In loving memory of William Pitcher who passed away February 18th 1943 aged 66 years also of his wife Florence Harriet Pitcher died Dec 19th 1972.

      A woman well known in many walks of life, Mrs. Florence Harriet Pitcher, died last week at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.
      Mrs. Pitcher, of Bitthams, Great Kimble, took an active part in local affairs for over 60 years and served for 25 years on Kimble Parish Council until she retired last year.
      In 1949 she was elected to represent the Kimbles on Wycombe Rural District Council and she kep that position until 1968.
      Until she died she was president of the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion, Kimble branch, having joined when the branch was first formed in 1948.
      For over 20 years she organised the Poppy Day appeal in the Kimbles.
      Mrs. Pitcher was also president of the Kimble branch of Wycombe Divisional Conservative Association and served on the women's advisory and fiance committees at the Wycombe Tory headquarters.
      In addition, Mrs. Pitcher was for many years until her death a manager of Great Kimble Church of England Primary School.
      She also served on the Parochial Church Council for some years and was a member of Kimble Mothers' Union.
      Born in Somerset, Mrs. Pitcher came to Kimble after marrying Mr. William Pitcher, a member of an old Kimble farming family.
      The couple lived at the Old Grange, Great Kimble, until Mr. Pitcher died during the second world war. Mrs. Pitcher then moved to a thatched cottage - the Bitthams.
      The funeral service was at Great Kimble Parish Church on Friday.
