Well known Aylesbury funeral director, Kenneth York Green (83), of Marsh Road, Little Kimble, has died.
Born in Aylesbury, he went to Aylesbury Grammar School ... He and his wife Winifred were married 58 years ago and went to live in Little Kimble.
He was the last of the Greens who have been builders and undertakers in Aylesbury for more than 200 years. The family business became K. Y. Green in 1940, after Cannon, Green and Company Ltd. moved to their present Cambridge Street office from Walton Street. He continued to be involved with the company almost until his death on Sunday at Thame Cottage Hospital. He founded the Chiltern Branch of the National Association of Funeral Directors.
Gardening was one of his favourite hobbies and he was a member of Little Kimble Horticultural Society and the Aylesbury Chrysanthemum Society.
Mr. Green was a member of Kimble Parish Council and its chairman for many years.
He was president of Kimble Cricket Club and an ardent supporter of Aylesbury United Football Club.
He is survived by his wife, sister and two nephews.
The funeral will take place at Great Kimble Church and Amersham Crematorium on June 7.
