We regret to have to record the death of Mr. Jacob Stopps, of Holly Green Farm, who after an illness of a few weeks passed away on the afternoon of Saturday last, leaving a widow, a family of three sons and four daughters ...
The deceased, who was well-known in Aylesbury, had attended the market there nearly every Saturday during a period of between forty and fifty years. He took a prominent part in village life and occupied many official positions, having at various times been Churchwarden, Charity Trustee, Guarian for Bledlow, School Manager, and the Chairman of the Bledlow branch of the Unionist Association. He was a keen lover of cricket, and was president of the club, the members of which are indebted to him for the free use of a meadow in which to practice and play matches.
The interment took place in the Parish Churchyeard on Wednesday afternoon.
