      Mr. and Mrs. J. Slaymaker, of "Woodside", Little Kimble, celebrated their golden wedding on Monday. They were married in the Parish Church of St. Giles at Horspeth, near Wheatley, where Mrs. Slaymaker was born. Her husband is a native of Holton, a neighbouring village. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Slaymaker came to live at Butlers Cross, Ellesborough, and after about two years they came to Kimble, and for the last few years they have been living at "Woodside" as neighbours to their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Barnard.

      Sunday was an eventful day for Mr. and Mrs. James Slaymaker, of Woodside Bungalow, Butlers Cross, for on that day they celebrated their diamond wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Slaymaker were married at St. Giles Church, Horspath, Oxford, on February 8th, 1882. For more than 56 years their home has been in Bucks. Mr. Slaymaker has served in the choir of St. Nicholas Church, Kimble, for more than 50 years, during the service of five rectors. He was on the Parish Council for 10 years, and is the only surviving member of the Velvet Lawn Association, formed during the time of th late Mr. Astley. He is still one of the Kimble School Managers. Mrs. Slaymaker was for many years a member of the Mothers' Union and is now a member of the Women's Institute. She has had her own special pew at St. Nicholas Church for over 50 years.
