Sixrty years ago today (Friday), William Feasey and Margaret Castle set out to walk from Marsh to Great Kimble Church to be married. They came to the church together with two other people, by way of Kimble Hill, and after they had been married by the late Rev. John Steward, they walked back to Brook Cottage, at Marsh, via "Smoky Row" or Bridge Street, as it is now called.
To-day the old couple are still living at Brook Cottage, and it is there that they will celebrate quietly the culmination of sixty years of the joys and sorrows of wedded life and their Diamond Wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Feasey did not actually commence their married life at Brook Cottage, which was in those days the home of Mr. Feasey's parents. When they arrived at the cottage, after walking home from the church, the wedding breakfast was served there, and then they walked to a cottage in the Bishopstone Road, where they made their first home.
Our picture shows Mr. and Mrs. Feasey outside their cottage.
