It will be 50 years ago next Wednesday that Mr. and Mrs. Francis William Rutland, of "The Oasis", Risborough Road, Great Kimble, were married at Croydon Parish Church.
Mr. Rutland, who is 78, has lived in Kimble all his life.
Mr. Rutland retired from the railway in 1944, and for the last three years was station foreman at Princes Risborough Station. On his retirement he was presented with a certificate by the National Union of Railwaymen stating that he had been a member of the Union for 39 years.
He met his wife, Mrs. Daisy Mary Rutland, when she was a maid employed at Chequers Court.
Mrs. Rutland celebrates her 73rd birthday one day after the golden wedding day.
